Star Wars Casts Chernobyl Actor Robert Emms In Cassian Andor Disney+ Show

Ever since Disney's acquisition of Star Wars in 2012, the House of Mouse has seen great success in spin-off projects from the main Skywalker Saga. While the franchise is now expanding more than ever through Disney+, the initial era of spin-off stories took the theatrical route with Rogue One and Solo taking place in the era between the prequel and original trilogies.

Possibly the best-received project to come out of this venture was Rogue One, a film centering around a ragtag group of Rebels stealing the plans for the Death Star. While the conclusion of the film saw the death of its entire main cast, the story is set to continue in a spy-thriller prequel series, Andor, which will see the return of Diego Luna's Cassian Andor.

While initially planned to release in 2021, COVID-19 delays have led the series to be pushed to 2022 alongside a slew of other Star Wars Disney+ projects.

Filming is currently ongoing in the U.K., and it seems another actor has joined the cast which already includes Diego Luna, Genevieve O'Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller

According to an exclusive report from DeadlineChernobyl and His Dark Materials actor Robert Emms has joined the cast of Rogue One's Disney+ spin-off Andor.

No details have been revealed regarding Emms' character in the series which is currently filming its 12-episode first season in the U.K.

ANDOR'S CAST CONTINUES TO GROW

The upcoming Star Wars spy-thriller Andor is set to include 12-episodes, meaning the project is likely to have many guest stars over the course of the first season. So far, both Cassian Andor and Mon Mothma have been confirmed to return in key roles while Ewan McGregor is rumored to be appearing as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The addition of Robert Emms marks yet another major actor joining its already expansive line-up of actors in an unknown role. The Mandalorian already brought over a multitude of characters from Star Wars Legends and animation, making it a strong possibility that the Chernobyl star may be translating an existing character into live-action for the first time.

However, it's just as likely that the British actor could be playing a new character rather than a familiar face. With no substantial plot details known as of now, it's hard to predict who exactly Emms could be portraying, but fans should expect to see the mysterious role revealed closer to release or possibly not until his character pops up in the series.

Andor is set to debut on Disney+ in 2022.
