Since its initial conception, the Star Wars franchise has been renowned as a property for all the family. As such, the series has led to plenty of books and TV shows based on the various eras of the saga.
For a long time now, the world has always been expanded by non-fiction-styled books within the universe. Books like this are perfect for the Star Wars world as they open younger or casual fans' eyes to the deeper lore of the galaxy.
The latest of these books has just been announced to be releasing later this year, exploring the secrets of the Sith alongside an incredible piece of cover art.
THE SECRETS OF THE SITH WILL BE REVEALED
The official Star Wars website has revealed a brand-new Star Wars children's book which will explore the secrets of the Dark Side of the force, narrated by Darth Sidious himself, Emperor Palpatine. Additionally, the site showcases a new cover art for the book featuring all the franchise's major Dark Side users: Kylo Ren, Palpatine, Snoke, Savage Opress, Count Dooku, Darth Vader, Maul, and Asajj Ventress.
Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith will be written by Mark Sumerak and illustrated by Sergio Gomez Silvan. The book will be packed with “arcane knowledge, incredible artwork, and other interactive features, such as pop-ups, booklets, and lift-the-flap inserts,” making it perfect for younger fans of the franchise.
The upcoming release is a sequel to the 2019 book, The Secrets of the Jedi, and will release in August, available for pre-order now.
A synopsis released on the site offers a brief description of the content included within the book which will span “everything from the Star Wars films to series to comics and beyond,” it reads:
“The book, a follow-up to the popular The Secrets of the Jedi, covers everything from the Star Wars films to series to comics and beyond; readers will discover entries on some of the most legendary dark-side warriors, including Darth Maul, Asajj Ventress, Darth Vader, and Kylo Ren, along with Palpatine’s own thoughts on several dark-side abilities.”
STAR WARS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
A book like this is obviously designed for a younger demographic due to its pop-up elements and general art style. This means all around, it probably won't appeal to the majority of hardcore Star Wars fans.
However, books like this are always fun to see, especially when they are accompanied by gorgeous cover art. Plenty of older collectors are more than likely going to pick this one up to add to their expansive collections.
Generally, most children's books in the Star Wars universe tend to focus on the heroes, so switching focus to the Dark Side users sounds fun and exciting. Villains like Darth Vader are generally considered to be the most iconic parts of the world, especially for children as Vader is a historically popular Halloween costume- meaning this is sure to be a popular one.
Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith is set to release this August, and is available for pre-order now.
