Many would agree that 2019's Shazam! is one of the bright spots of the DCEU, especially after the divisive reactions towards previous entries of the franchise such as Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, the film featured the debut of Zachary Levi as the titular hero, with Asher Angel playing his teenage counterpart, Billy Batson. The first film showcased a compelling origin story for the young hero, and it ended with a surprise introduction of the famous Shazam family from the comics.
The success of the 2019 DC blockbuster ultimately led to a sequel in the form of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected that the main cast from the first film will return.

In an Instagram post, Shazam! actor Zachary Levi revealed that he landed in Atlanta, Georgia, seemingly teasing that filming for Shazam! Fury of the Gods could start soon:

FILMING FOR SHAZAM 2 COULD BEGIN SOON
Zachary Levi's latest tease could hint that preparations for filming the sequel are now underway, and this bodes well for both the cast and fans.
Even though the DCEU sequel will be released in June 2023, filming this year is essential due to the movie's crop of talented young stars. To recap, Levi previously said that it's important for Shazam! Fury of the Gods to begin production as soon as possible, pointing out that the “kids are growing fast.”
With work for the sequel confirmed to start anytime in the next few days, David F. Sandberg and the rest of the cast have a lot of time on their hands to craft another captivating story centered on the Shazam family.
Asher Angel's Billy Batson and the rest of his foster family are all expected to play huge roles in the sequel, carrying over from their heroic debuts in the first film. This means that their powerful adult counterparts, including Levi, will be involved in a plethora of hard-hitting action scenes to eventually save the day in the movie's mysterious storyline.
