Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ marketing is in full swing, with the movie set to hit theaters on May 6. The highly anticipated sequel will see audiences experience a Sam Raimi-directed adventure that brings fans across the vast Multiverse first introduced in Disney+’s Loki. Tom Hiddleston’s show isn’t the only series to have a direct effect on the film—the events of Olsen’s WandaVision will be a key part of the proceedings.
At the end of WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch can be seen studying magic from the corrupted Darkhold spellbook. Not only that, but it seems she’s specifically looking for where her lost kids may have ended up.
All the evidence points to Wanda’s pursuit of happiness being a key reason for the conflict in Multiverse of Madness, and she’ll be put up directly against Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.
While fans wait for the big blockbuster to arrive, new photos from Berlin show Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sam Raimi having a good time promoting the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
Doctor Strange 2 Press Tour Begins
An event in Berlin organized by Disney kicked off Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' pre-release press tour. Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and director Sam Raimi gathered together on Thursday, April 21, in the German capital:
With Raimi gone, the next photo focuses on two of the most powerful beings in the MCU:
A close-up look at Olsen’s unique outfit can also be seen, giving off a distinct magical vibe. The amulet-shaped design on the front of her shirt is reminiscent of the Eye of Agamotto:
Olsen isn’t the only one looking sharp, as Cumberbatch puts up a good fight. His yellow scarf brings to mind the mysticism of the MCU, thanks to its coloring:
The co-stars can then be seen playing some sort of game with a spinning wheel, one that contains the names of several Avengers. They are also messing around with Funko Pops! and other figures within a shadowbox:
Elizabeth Olsen & Benedict Cumberbatch Having Fun
Marketing always looks like it’s one of two experiences for the stars: a fun, quirky experience or a dull existence of repetitious questions. Here, thankfully, it seems like both Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen are experiencing the better of those two options.
The bigger question, however, is what in the world are they even doing in some of those photos? The shadowbox game is reminiscent of those “use your hands to feel the mysterious unknown object”-type activities. Maybe they’re supposed to guess which character they are holding?
One would have to hope that the actual footage from this event will make its way online at some point into a promotional video of sorts. After all, the more Olsen is on a press tour, the better—no one’s forgotten the joy of her Captain America: Civil War shenanigans.
