One fan-favorite ABC Marvel actor will be back for another round of action under Marvel Studios' watch this year. ABC has a long history with Marvel content, including some characters that have been directly integrated into the MCU's storytelling over the last few decades. Now, that story will continue into the latter stages of the Multiverse Saga, courtesy of Marvel Studios' next streaming release.

Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for VisionQuest after its presentation at the 2026 D23 Expo. The new footage revealed James D'Arcy, who will portray the human avatar of JARVIS, when the show hits Disney+ on October 14. This character is based on Howard Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis, who inspired Tony Stark to create the first AI program in the 2008 Iron Man movie.

Marvel Studios' Wonder Man arrived on Disney+ earlier this year as one of the biggest surprises on the studio's slate in Phase 6, trading the typical superhero fanfare for a Hollywood satire built around Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery. The eight-episode run finished with a 91 percent Rotten Tomatoes score and features one of the most interesting sets of characters Marvel Television has assembled recently.

Fans were expecting to see many of these characters again, though this is no longer the case following Marvel Studios' cancellation of Wonder Man Season 2 in July. Co-creators Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest were both set to both to return, and Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley were locked in to reprise their roles.

No full Season 2 cast list was officially released; however, looking at Season 1's ending and the team's prior interest in building on existing relationships, it is easy to predict who would have been asked to return.

Marvel Studios released brand-new international posters for Avengers: Doomsday, including its first-ever X-Men poster. The 2026 MCU crossover event will finally bring the actors from the Fox's X-Men era into the MCU as their world becomes one of the three colliding Earths, joining Earth-616 (the main MCU) and Earth-828 (the Fantastic Four's home). Marvel is using the original 2000s cast as the classic X-Men of a separate reality, bringing back Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen's Magneto, James Marsden's Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer's Beast, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn's Mystique while adding Channing Tatum's Gambit. Marvel made sure to emphasize X-Men's importance in Doomsday by including them prominently in marketing materials, such as in the trailer and key art for the film. 

Brand-new Avengers: Doomsday posters (via Avengers Updates) featuring the logos of the different teams of heroes who will go up against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom have been spotted in a major theater chain in Japan. The main MCU teams featured in the Doomsday collection include the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and the X-Men. 

A new look at the human form of Spider-Man's AI companion in VisionQuest has been revealed. The upcoming Disney+ series focuses on Paul Bettany's Avengers hero, Vision, as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery to understand his purpose after being reprogrammed by SWORD in WandaVision. On that journey, Vision will have help in the form of other AI's from within the MCU, who appear as human manifestations within Vision's internal world. 

One AI that Vision will interact with is EDITH (Even Dead, I'm The Hero), who is best known as the voice from within Tony Stark's glasses, which he bequeathed to Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Dawn Michelle King provided the voice for EDITH in the Spider-Man film, but for VisionQuest's human manifestation, the AI will be played by Emily Hampshire (Schitt's Creek).

Marvel Studios is not done with the surprises yet, as a new Avengers: Doomsday extended trailer revealed more intriguing, never-before-seen details about the upcoming MCU crossover event. Marvel's marketing for Doomsday has kicked into high gear in recent weeks as it approaches its December 18 release date, releasing two brand-new trailers following its methodical four-teaser drop at the end of 2025 during screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. 

The first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer highlighted the stakes the heroes must face, with Thor's narration urging them to set aside their differences, as they would need a "miracle" to win this time. Doomsday's Special Look trailer mainly focused on Doctor Doom, giving fans a glimpse of his tragic origin story and his magical powers as he awakens the fallen Sentinels on the X-Men's Earth. While the latest piece of official footage isn't a new trailer, it still provides fans with something exciting about Doomsday. 

Marvel Studios (via ScreenX) revealed a 15-second comparison trailer showing how the same scenes looked in standard 2.39:1 versus the three-wall immersive format that ScreenX offers. 

The MCU finally has its X-Men leader, and Marvel Studios made the call right in the middle of Phase 6. The current phase kicked off in theaters last summer with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are still ahead, set to close out both Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga. A fully rebooted X-Men lineup isn't coming until 2028, but this actor is turning back the clock this December, returning to the character 20 years after being initially killed off.

Marvel Studios confirmed who the Phase 6 X-Men leader is in an unlikely place: a Hasbro Pulse product listing for a new Avengers: Doomsday action figure. The description leaves no doubt:

"The leader of the X-Men, Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, gears up to defend mutantkind from extinction against a multiversal threat."

Marvel erased a major Daredevil Easter egg from one of its new Spider-Man: Brand New Day posters. Before Tom Holland's fourth solo Spider-Man movie hit theaters on July 31, many fans expected Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock to factor into the film in one way or another, especially since Jon Bernthal's Punisher was playing a major role in the web-slinger's world. Unfortunately, Daredevil had no role in the film, and its latest artwork has kept the Man Without Fear at arm's length even further.

The poster in question was originally made by popular Australia-based digital artist BossLogic, who has worked on Marvel art pieces in the past. His Brand New Day poster was initially fan art, but it became so popular among the fanbase that Marvel decided to make it an official poster. 

Marvel Studios appears to be changing the ethnicity of one of its upcoming Young Avengers heroes. The MCU has slowly introduced various members of the Young Avengers team, including Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) in Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) in Hawkeye, and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The next Young Avengers to make an appearance, or rather, a return, is Tommy Maximoff, who will be played as a teenager by Ruaridh Mollica in VisionQuest. 

Tommy Maximoff was already introduced to audiences as a child in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where he was played by Jett Klyne. Agatha All Along established that the sons of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) survived despite being created by chaos magic, and their souls were transplanted into the bodies of teenagers, Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd. Fans met teenage Billy, played by Joe Locke, in Agatha All Along, and now they'll be acquainted with the new Tommy in VisionQuest.

X-Men '97 Season 2 officially changed Rogue and her world in a major way, setting up her most personal story yet heading into Season 3. Gambit's death in X-Men '97 Season 1 completely shattered Rogue, haunting her due to the trauma of losing the love of her life. Rogue's grief carried over into Season 2, and it was amplified further when Apocalypse killed Magneto, another major figure in Rogue's orbit with whom she shared a complicated romance. In the penultimate episode of X-Men '97 Season 2, Rogue reunited with a newly resurrected Gambit, but this is a different version of the man she once knew and loved due to Apocalypse's influence. While Rogue was tempted to go along with Gambit's plan of making her immortal so death can never separate them again, she still managed to see through the corruption and Apocalypse's control, mapping out a plan to save Gambit and restore his old self for good. 

The X-Men '97 Season 2 finale revealed Rogue's desperate attempt to save Gambit from Apocalypse's control by facing Eson the Searcher to make a cosmic deal: she would gain temporary Celestial-level power needed to defeat Apocalypse in exchange for her life. Rogue received the much-needed upgrade, breaking Apocalypse's hold on Gambit by absorbing his essence, and ultimately sealing it in a gem given to Cable. This move restored Gambit, but it came at a cost. 

MCU fans played a part in helping Marvel Studios create the ending for Spider-Man: Brand New Day when they showed up to set during the early days of the film's production. Brand New Day is still sitting on the box office throne in the world of entertainment. The MCU's most recent theatrical entry has already crossed $1.5 billion worldwide and is expected to surpass $2 billion in the coming weeks. For the first time in quite a while, it seems as though Brand New Day has united the MCU fanbase, with many praising its story and character work. What fans likely had no idea of, though, is that they influenced Marvel's decision to end Brand New Day the way that it did.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently appeared at the University of Southern California (USC), where he spoke about the making of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Feige (who graduated from USC School of Cinematic Arts in 1995) revealed that the MCU fanbase influenced one of the movie's final scenes after they made their voices heard at the start of production. Feige recalled how, during "the very first week of production" in Glasgow, Scotland, "there were hundreds of people on the street" who filmed the entire process. This led to the making of the tank scene in Brand New Day (one of the movie's most notable action sequences that takes place near the beginning of the film):

"The very first week of production, and there were hundreds of people on the street and they were all filming. So, it got a lot of press, but it happened to also look awesome, because there was a giant rig above this tank driving and an actual stuntman swinging back and forth through it and landing on the side of it."

Elizabeth Olsen's movement coach and body double posted a cryptic Instagram story that sparked speculation about Scarlet Witch's MCU return in one of the next two Avengers movies. Olsen's Wanda Maximoff hasn't been on-screen since her sacrifice at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but many believe she is not dead and is bound to return before the Multiverse Saga ends. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige bluntly addressed Scarlet Witch's return in a September 2022 interview, only teasing that "anything's possible in the Multiverse." Elizabeth Olsen is not part of the official Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement in March 2025, but her exclusion still doesn't stop MCU fans from awaiting her return in the upcoming Marvel crossover or even Avengers: Secret Wars. 

Jennifer White, Elizabeth Olsen's movement coach and stunt double for her role as Scarlet Witch, posted a cryptic Instagram story of her time working for Marvel Studios, fueling speculation that Wanda Maximoff could appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. 

Lana Condor, known for playing Jubilee in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, talked about a potential return to the role. The 29-year-old actor confirmed she's spoken with filmmakers about bringing the mutant back during a chat with The Direct at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. It's important to note that Marvel Studios is currently full speed ahead with casting its 2028 X-Men movie. Apocalypse marked Condor's first film acting credit, and with Marvel's new mutant team taking shape, fans wondered if she could possibly return.

Lana Condor was at SDCC promoting her upcoming film, Coyote vs. Acme, opening Friday, August 28, when The Direct got the chance to ask her whether anyone had approached her about stepping back into Jubilee's yellow jacket. Her answer left the door wide open, stating she "would love nothing more" than to return someday. Most notably, she confirmed that she's "talked to the filmmakers" behind Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot to express her interest in returning as the Mutant:

"I would love nothing more than to come back as Jubilation Lee. That's all I've been hearing, but no real conversations... I've talked to the filmmakers and been like, 'Hey, listen, I'm 10 years older now. I know more. Bring me back.' So we'll see."

New information indicated Marvel Studios is finally reviving a Shang-Chi spin-off project. Marvel first teased the Ten Rings in Iron Man, but Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings introduced the real organization and its leader, Xu Wenwu. After the film’s success in 2021, reports of a spinoff revolving around the group surfaced. Shang-Chi ended with Shaun’s sister, Xu Xialing, taking over the Ten Rings after Wenwu’s death despite promising to dismantle it, so a project exploring where she leads the organization sounded like a promising idea. After those reports, development stalled for years with no meaningful update in sight. 

Insider Daniel Richtman, via his Patreon, shared that the Ten Rings project is currently in development at Marvel Studios. He did not provide further details, including whether it is a Disney+ series or a film. Richtman first posted about the show in 2021, mentioning the sequel was being developed as a Disney+ series. Although his latest update doesn't mention it, the format likely won’t change. 

For the first time in MCU history, Marvel Studios is bringing its own version of Star Wars' Boba Fett to the superhero franchise, and fans got an official look at him in a recently released trailer for one of Marvel's upcoming Disney+ shows. Marvel has prided itself on creating quality adaptations of comic book characters, specifically when it comes to the MCU. However, every now and then, the company takes inspiration from other popular universes or IPs, and in this case, the most popular bounty hunter in the galaxy far, far away will be the model for an upcoming MCU antagonist.

In the official trailer for Marvel Television's upcoming Disney+ series, VisionQuest, fans were given a first look at one of the show's villains named Paladin. Played by Todd Stashwick, Paladin has been explained as being a bounty hunter in the MCU, and was heavily inspired by Star Wars' Boba Fett, who was most known for being portrayed by Temuera Morrison.

Marvel Comics has been pushing the impending thousandth issue of The Amazing Spider-Man for months with variant covers and buzz, telling readers that Spider-Man will face "his greatest fear and his most frightening new villain in decades." Considering the buildup to one of the biggest milestones in comic book history, readers expect something big to justify the momentous number, and one guess from fans might finally prove true.

In the latest story arc of Joe Kelly's The Amazing Spider-Man run, Peter Parker has been struggling with inadequacies as a son after Aunt May discovers her and Uncle Ben's long-lost biological son, whom she thought died at birth. Long story short, the two reconnected, and because of Peter's frequent absences as Spider-Man, Peter felt as if he was being justifiably replaced by someone who would treat her better.

In the latest issue before the thousandth, Aunt May finally forces a talk with Peter and straightens him out, reassuring him that "I already have the son I've always wanted. I raised him, one day at a time," ending with the two hugging it out with the promise of dinner together. After having a brief tussle with Gwen Stacy's Ghost-Spider, Peter gets the worst phone call imaginable: "May's had a stroke."

Channing Tatum's Gambit is about to make a name for himself, thanks to a comic-accurate upgrade he's going to receive in Avengers: Doomsday. The X-Men are back and better than ever in Marvel Studios' next team-up movie. After doing their time in Fox's up-and-down franchise, characters like Magneto, Professor X, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops are all getting new looks in Doomsday, ones that honor their classic costumes in Marvel Comics.

Not every mutant got the dress code memo, though. Gambit, played by Channing Tatum, who spent years trying to get a Ragin' Cajun solo project off the ground, will wear essentially the same outfit he had in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, new Doomsday merchandise reveals that not everything is business as usual for the card-throwing mutant.

Marvel Studios' Netflix reboot will return in 2027, complete with exciting upgrades to the story established more than a decade ago. After four years and 13 seasons of action, Netflix's Defenders Saga was finally fully incorporated into the greater MCU during the Multiverse Saga. With those two franchises now combined, the stage is set for more thrilling stories to be developed under the MCU banner.

Marvel Studios is set to release Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 in March 2027, marking the next chapter in the revival of Netflix's Defenders Saga on Disney+. This will come with a handful of major upgrades over the previous iteration on Netflix, after its characters were integrated into the broader MCU starting in 2021.

This starts with a reunion for all four Defenders heroes, as Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Danny Rand are confirmed for roles in Season 3. They will join series lead Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones (who starred in three Born Again episodes from Season 2). This will be the first time these four characters have shared the screen together since 2017's The Defenders and the first time doing so since Marvel Studios' Defenders Saga infusion began.

Marvel Studios found a clever way to welcome Dolly Parton into the MCU two years ago, and the "role" they gave her felt tailor-made for the country star. Parton passed away this past Tuesday, August 25, at 80 years old, and tributes have poured in from fans and notable admirers from across the world. Her six-decade career touched country music, film, and television alike, but the MCU was one of the more unexpected places her legacy left a mark. With so much being said about her this week, now's the perfect time to look back at the unique way the MCU chose to include her.

In Agatha All Along's Episode 6, "Familiar by Thy Side," which aired on October 16, 2024, Marvel used an Easter egg-filled research session into a perfectly suited Dolly Parton reference.

Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke), still piecing together who Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) really is, starts digging through her past online. For reference, Agatha lived for approximately 350 years in the MCU before dying in Episode 8.

Disney+ made history by integrating one Marvel show with another Disney franchise, continuing the trend of expanding its IP past its original projects. Marvel was built upon this strategy. From crossover issues of comic stories to the first Avengers movie bringing disparate heroes together, interconnectivity has been core to what makes the Marvel Universe function on a fundamental level.

This continued on Disney+, which has seen characters pop up in shows and then spin off into their own projects. Daredevil: Born Again is the best example of this, bringing Punisher back into the fray before letting him loose to star in his own Disney+ special and jump to the big screen.

Despite this, Marvel has never taken pre-existing Disney+ shows and merged them into an entirely new property. This changes now, with the advent of a brand new series on the horizon.

The MCU's Spider-Man: Brand New Day included one major supernatural villain from past projects that changed paths moving forward. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' $2-billion blockbuster pitted Tom Holland's Peter Parker against a host of villains, including the MCU's first-ever classic X-Man character from Earth-616. This also came with some familiar faces that have not been featured in a long time.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day brought back the villainous organization known as The Hand. Originally revealed to be working for the Department of Damage Control (DODC), the group was given a new purpose by DODC Director William Metzger: to use their skill set for good. Then, as Spider-Man fought to get to Sadie Sink's Jean Grey and stop her from killing Metzger (who may also return for the MCU's X-Men movie), she took control of The Hand and forced them to fight Spider-Man, nearly taking him out.
