Moff Gideon, The Mandalorian

With the second season of The Mandalorian just over two weeks out from its debut, the marketing campaign has been kicked into high gear. We were recently treated to a new TV spot, which revealed new looks at sequences on Tatooine and in the ice cave, as well as an expansion of the Fight Night sequence.

The character who's remained elusive is Moff Gideon. The villain arrived on the scene near the end of season 1's Chapter 7: The Reckoning and completely took over in Chapter 8. What the antagonists true motives are and where he comes from still remain mysteries, but Lucasfilm is being sure to remind us of his presence as a new piece of promotional material has landed with a voiceover by Gideon himself...

The official Star Wars YouTube account has shared a new promotional teaser for The Mandalorian season 2. The teaser, with new footage narrated by Moff Gideon's chilling words, can be seen below:

WHAT THIS MEANS

There's still been nothing to feature Moff Gideon in Season 2 beyond an image from Entertainment Weekly, but this promo teaser makes sure to remind us that the villain very much remains at large. The narration of Gideon's monologue in season 1 is an excellent way to set up the stakes for the hunt that's about to take place, and Mando and Baby Yoda will never truly be safe.

The teaser features a live shot of the ensemble image from EW, which appears to be aboard a Star Destroyer or within the bowls of an Imperial fortress. With Cara Dune and Greef Karga back in the fold, is it possible that the trio could be rescuing a captured Baby Yoda? The Child will constantly be in peril, and it like his apprehension by Gideon is an inevitability.

Season 2 is nearly here, and with it will come an expansion on the series' true villain. The darksaber wielding Moff Gideon brought a new dimension to the show in just the two episodes he was featured in in the first season, and a full season of Giancarlo Esposito's antagonist is sure to elevate the show to new heights.
