Kathleen Kennedy and crew blew fans away earlier this year when they introduced Rosario Dawson as the live-action incarnation of Clone Wars icon Ahsoka Tano. Since the Togurta padawan debuted back in 2008, she's captured the hearts and minds of Star Wars fans across the world.
So when Dawson appeared as an older Ahsoka in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, audiences went bonkers to say the least. Shortly after now-Master Tano showed up to help Mando and Grogu along in their journey, an Ahsoka Disney+ series was officially confirmed.
Ahsoka is expected to debut sometime next year, and while not much is known about the story of the project, it was recently confirmed that Anakin Skywalker himself Hayden Christensen would make an appearance.
Production on the show is set to kick into high gear sometime in early 2022; however, if some recent leaks are to be believed, that production date could be on the move.
Ahsoka Shooting Sooner Than Later
After it was recently reported that shooting on the Disney+ series Ahsoka would commence in early 2022, filmmaker Marc Bernardin - in an appearance on Kevin Smith's Fatman Beyond podcast - may have let slip that Rosario Dawson's Star Wars project could be shooting as soon as December.
Bernardin claims that he wanted to cast Rosario in a short film that he is set to shoot in December because she will be occupied "in Manhattan Beach making a f***ing Star Wars show".
The filmmaker did not specify if this Star Wars project is in fact Ahsoka or something else entirely.
Master Tano on the Move
While the easiest conclusion to draw here is Disney is corralling the herd to get going on Ahsoka, whether that be with principal photography or simply some camera tests, that may not be the case.
One other option for this aforementioned "f***ing Star Wars show" could be The Mandalorian Season 3. Fans do not yet know if Ms. Tano will be making her way into the third season of Mando's adventure, but after showing up in Season 2, that could be the case.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian is currently in production, so it would make sense if Rosario Dawson were to be appearing, December would be the time to get her before she goes off and gets into her own solo Disney+ series.
However, the reports of Ahsoka shooting to start in early 2022 were just that - reports. This could be the case of a tentative timeline now being locked down and things moving ahead of where maybe that supposed "leaked" information had them.
Either way, fans most likely will not have to wait long to hear the latest on both Mandalorian S3 and Ahsoka as November 12 (aka Disney+ Day) quickly approaches.
