For decades now, Star Wars has been among the most celebrated franchises in the galaxy, so much so that May the 4th now serves as a day dedicated to celebrating the sci-fi series. Every year, the occasion has been commemorated with announcements and releases, with a special convention even taking place annually in the weeks surrounding the date: Star Wars Celebration.
This year has been big for Star Wars, and things are just getting started. Fans have already been treated to The Book of Boba Fett and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but there's still Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, as well as second seasons of Visions and The Bad Batch set to release in the coming months.
The LEGO and Star Wars brands have grown to be synonymous with one another over the years. Besides toys, games, and the occasional special, the two are constantly collaborating. A month has now passed since The Skywalker Saga was released across consoles and PC, and fans are continuing to enjoy the expansive experience.
As 2022's Star Wars Day comes around, LEGO, Lucasfilm, and Xbox have teamed up to offer an exciting celebration of the monumental occasion.
Xbox Reveals LEGO Star Wars Consoles
As part of the 2022 Star Wars Day celebrations, Xbox unveiled 12 custom Series S consoles featuring LEGO editions of many iconic characters from across the Skywalker Saga.
The 12 custom consoles feature their own unique color palette on top of LEGO versions of a Stormtrooper, Darth Maul, Finn, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Yoda, R2-D2, BB-8, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Rey, and Darth Vader.
Lucky fans will get the chance to win one of these unique consoles from May 4 to 25 by participating in a Twitter giveaway. To have a chance to win, entrants must be following the Xbox account and retweet the official sweepstakes post with #LegoStarWarsXboxSweepstakes and #Maythe4th.
Star Wars Goes Big in 2022
With all the content coming to Disney+, this year was always going to be huge for Star Wars, but that's just the beginning. Just recently, TT Games released LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to ecstatic acclaim, and there appear to be more games coming to the galaxy far, far away this year.
Zynga's Hunters will come to Nintendo Switch and mobile in the coming months, delivering team-based multiplayer battles with an all-new cast of characters. While unannounced at this time, EA and Respawn are also expected to be back later in the year with the highly-anticipated next-gen sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order.
Xbox's newly-revealed custom consoles won't be the only treats coming for LEGO Star Wars fans this May the 4th. The Skywalker Saga's character DLC packs based on The Mandalorian Season 2 and The Bad Batch have also just been released, adding Disney+ icons such as Ahsoka Tano, Fennec Shand, Moff Gideon, and all of Clone Force 99.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
