LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Receives Exciting Release Update

The journey of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been almost as grueling as the story told in its namesake. The title was originally announced back in 2019 and has been pushed multiple times in order for the team to get things just right. The Skywalker Saga is the latest effort from developer Traveller's Tales and looks to be the biggest LEGO project from the studio to date

The game spans all nine films in Lucasfilm's Skywalker Saga, offering up a reinvented LEGO game formula with expansive worlds, a bevy of characters, and a stunning new engine to boot.

That isn't to say everything has been sunshine and rainbows on the project. The development team behind the game has been vocal about a culture of crunch at the studio, something that recent delays of the upcoming LEGO title were meant to address.

Whether these delays had any effect on the tight schedule at TT Games is still unknown. However, the team has provided an exciting update on its upcoming game, one fans (and developers on the project) will be excited to see.

LEGO Star Wars Has Gone Gold

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has gone gold according to the game's official Twitter account. This means work on the title has been completed and a build of the game is ready to ship ahead of its April 5 release date.

The full tweet reads:

"#LEGOStarWarsGame has gone gold - cue the Throne Room Theme! Huge congratulations to the team for the galactic work they've put into the game."

It's Been a Long Time Coming

While the developers behind The Skywalker Saga will have to continue work on their game post-release, this milestone should be celebrated. The team at TT Games has been through a lot over the past couple of years, so now is the time to take a breath and celebrate the hard work

Going gold is a big deal in the world of games. This means a master disk will be made and then production on the game can officially begin from a manufacturing point of view. This allows boxes to be printed and disks to be shipped to retailers.

While to some it may feel early, with nearly a month and a half before release, to be going gold. This is about standard across the industry. Soon enough fans will finally have LEGO Star Wars back in their hands, something that at points has felt like it would never happen on this long road to release.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga comes to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One consoles, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 5.
