LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will not only be the biggest brick-layered adventure yet but also the largest take on the galaxy far, far away ever. With 45 main levels to play, 300 playable characters to unlock, 24 planets to explore, and 121 galactic ships to pilot, gamers will have plenty to keep them busy, especially with an entire Character Collection Season Pass of content following the release.
As the gaming industry progresses, the expectations for a modern blockbuster title have grown immensely. Once it may have been all about which games offered the longest stories or the biggest open-world, gamers now expect customizability and freedom to play the latest tiles how they want.
In part, this desire for customizability stems from the increasing expectation for developers to support a variety of accessibility requirements and disabilities. But with game settings menus now looking bigger than ever, all players want to have choices in their gaming experiences, with a major one being the HUD.
Some games have offered thorough options to redesign the HUD to their liking, and it seems The Skywalker Saga will offer a limited selection of options in that area.
LEGO Star Wars Reveals HUD Customization Options
In response to a question on Twitter, TT Games revealed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will offer a limited amount of HUD customization options for players.
When asked if there will be options to customize the HUD, TT Games initially said "you will not" have the ability to make changes to the UI:
"Hey! You will not be able to customize the HUD in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga."
However, the team later came back to reveal they "misread the message" and thought the user was referring to options such as colors that would not be present. The developer went on to reveal there will be options to "turn on and off parts of the HUD:"
"Sorry, the dark side clouded my mind when responding! I misread this message and thought you meant color etc. There will be options in the settings to turn on and off parts of the HUD."
The game's accessibility report previously revealed details of limited customization options with the ability to "enable and resize hints and tips" and toggle the objectives display on and off:
You can enable and resize hints and tips. Objectives are always displayed in the top corner of the game as default and can be toggled On/Off with the below options:
- Always On: Current objective text will always display.
- New Only: Objective text will appear for a few seconds when it changes.
- Off: Disables objective text.
How Customizable Will LEGO Star Wars Be?
Based on TT Games' description of the HUD customization options of The Skywalker Saga, players may be able to toggle on/off options such as health bars, combo meters, the mini-map, and character portraits, among other elements.
Gamers will also have the ability to toggle and resize the tips displayed throughout the game, alongside a selection of options for the objectives display that will determine how long they appear.
Over recent years, developers have increasingly begun to include more HUD customization options, with some titles having options to change the size, position, color, and more. By this standard, The Skywalker Saga looks to be lagging behind greatly, but compared to past LEGO games, it looks to be more customizable than ever.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases on April 5 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
