It is an exciting time to be a Marvel fan. With a Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer finally making its debut this week and new weekly episodes of What If...? dropping on Disney+, the MCU is having a heyday.

But a wing of Marvel that cannot be forgotten is Marvel Games. Between now and the end of the year, the team will help put out Guardians of the Galaxy and will continue support on Marvel's Avengers, which just launched its War for Wakanda expansion.

One title that has been whispered about for a while on the Marvel front though has been the long-rumored Firaxis-developed Marvel XCOM game. A superhero strategy tactics game based in the Big M's comic universe.

Well fans can now rest easy, as it has the project has finally been revealed to the world.

Marvel: Midnight Suns was announced as a part of Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live Gamescom event.

Midnight Suns is set to be a tactics game based in the Marvel universe, where players "Rise up and join a darker order of heroes to defeat Lilith before the Darkhold is complete."

The title is being developed by strategy game legends Firaxis Games and is set to launch on both last-gen and current-gen consoles in March 2022.

"When Hell awakens, only they can stop it. Rise up and join a darker order of heroes to defeat Lilith before the Darkhold is complete in this tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe.

Darkness Falls when Marvel's Midnight Suns arrives March 2022."

FIRAXIS IS MAKING DREAMS COME TRUE

A title like Marvel: Midnight Suns truly is the stuff of fanboy dreams.

Months ago when whispers of this project first started to hit the web it almost seemed too good to be true. A tactics Marvel game is not something that seemed out of the realm of possibility; however, one developed by the kings of the genre in Firaxis certainly did. But it is real, and it is glorious (at least from the brief glimpse shown so far).

For comics readers, the idea of the Midnight Sons is not one that is wholly unfamiliar. On the page, they are of supernatural heroes including characters like Hellstorm, Morbius, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Strange.

However, something to note is that the title of this game is not Marvel: Midnight Sons, it's Midnight Suns. Right now it is unclear if this is a part of a larger rebranding for the team (as they have not been relevant in the comics universe since the mid-'90s), or if it is just the developers have some fun with a pun in the title.

Now as for what gamers can expect from this project. According to Firaxis players will take control of the Hunter, a brand-new character in the Marvel universe that will be fully customizable in both appearance and abilities.

The project will surely be turn-based much like the XCOM games, but one can be pretty certain the similarities will stop there. But worry not, fans will not have to wait long to see gameplay as a gameplay debut was also announced to be coming September 1st.
