Duel of the Fates Concept Art has been revealed

Through the years, Star Wars earned the reputation of becoming a transmedia franchise. The famous space opera has a plethora of ways of telling the stories from the galaxy, which ranges from movies, TV shows, novels, comic books, and even video games. However, it's worth pointing out that the vast array of medium doesn't mean that every story will be produced and distributed to the masses.

This seems to be the case for the last chapter of the Skywalker Saga, which was supposed to be directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) before he was removed from the project due to "differences in vision." However, several leaks from the original concept of Trevorrow have surfaced online ranging from the script to the film's actual title (Duel of the Fates), proving that Trevorrow's version was far different from The Rise of Skywalker. Now, new concept art from Duel of the Fates has surfaced online, which shows a hopeful message in light of recent events.

NEWS

In a tweet, Steven Weintraub, editor-in-chief of Collider, shared brand new concept art from Colin Trevorrow's version of Star Wars Episode IX which was titled as Duel of the Fates. You can check the image below.

The concept art shows Finn (John Boyega) leading the charge for the Resistance presumably against the First Order. In the image, it also shows several sequel trilogy characters such as Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), and Chewbacca.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The release of the concept art from Duel of the Fates proved to be a very timely one due to the current political climate happening in the United States. For those unaware, John Boyega delivered a powerful speech during a Black Lives Matter protest in London which garnered support from both the Hollywood industry and Lucasfilm.

The concept art reflects Boyega's stance on the issue and goes hand in hand with the image of Finn stepping up for his Resistance family. The image also highlights the similarity between Boyega and Finn, with both of them not standing pat amid the chaos and choosing to fight for what is right.

It's nice to know that more major personalities from the industry, like Boyega, have been actively voicing out their sentiments through this difficult time. With the help of more celebrities joining the cause, it is only a matter of time before their collective voices put an end to the unjust treatment to the Black community.
