LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a matter of weeks away, and fans cannot wait. TT Games' latest is their biggest game yet, serving as both a celebration of the galaxy far, far away and LEGO games in general. LEGO Star Wars started this era all the way back in 2005, so it only seems fitting that The Skywalker Saga ushers fans into the next generation of brick-based adventures.
One of the biggest draws to the TT LEGO games has been the expansive rosters found within them. From Indiana Jones to Marvel Super Heroes fans have been given the opportunity to play as the iconic franchise mainstays as well the deepest of deep-cut characters.
And that trend is showing no sign of slowing down with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The recently revealed full character list for the game features over 300 different names from across the Star Wars universe. This includes an extensive list of droids, one of them being the walking garbage can, the Gonk Droid.
Gonk Droids have been playable in past LEGO Star Wars games, but this isn't any ordinary LEGO Star Wars. And with the big changes coming to The Skywalker Saga, fans have gotten the first look at how the Gonk will play in the upcoming title.
Be One With the Gonk
YouTube channel GameUnboxingReviews exclusively revealed the first Gonk Droid gameplay from LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The brief glimpse of the game shows off how the Gonk Droid will play, including traversal and combat sequences.
The tease features the little droid in locales from across the Skywalker Saga, taking on Stormtroopers with little bops of the head, as well as witnessing epic duels like that between Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn.
The Gonk sports a more elaborate design when compared to that of past LEGO Star Wars titles, but is pretty spot on when looking at its cinematic counterpart.

The Gonk Goes Bonk
While fans knew that Gonks and other droids from across the Star Wars canon would be playable in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it is fascinating to finally see them in action.
When the massive gameplay changes that will be found in The Skywalker Saga were first being pitched, many questioned how characters like a Gonk would make sense in this more involved combat system. Well, it seems the answer is... bonk!
It looks as though Gonks and perhaps other droids will be able to take on enemies with what look to be small robotic headbutts. There are even instances in the trailer of what seems to be a Gonk Droid performing an in-the-air combo by way of these headbutts.
So, despite the Gonk being a smaller, perhaps less well-known character, than Luke Skywalker or Han Solo, they still can be just as involved in the action.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases on April 5 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
