LEGO Star Wars: The Sky Walker Saga Character and Location Count Revealed

It is an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. In the past few months, Disney has announced jam-packed plans for their galaxy far, far away with movies and TV Shows on the way for fans to gobble up.

Along with the Star Wars universe expanding in theatrical and streaming releases, teams have been hard at work developing the next generation of intergalactic video gaming experiences; most of this followed the Star Wars/EA exclusivity deal broke down earlier this month . One studio that has gotten the chance to play in the Star Wars universe, even during the dark days of the EA monopoly, has been Traveler's Tales.

For more than fifteen years, TT Games has been building LEGO games brick by brick, starting with LEGO Star Wars back in 2005. Their latest, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is close on the horizon, collecting all nine films in the Skywalker Saga for the first time in LEGO form.

Details on the project have been trickling out over the past few months, but a full info dump on the game seems to be imminent.

LEGO STAR WARS: PLACES & PEOPLE

In a new interview in Official PlayStation Magazine Issue 184 , lead hub designer on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Dawn McDiarmid revealed that "there [are] around 300 playable characters" in the upcoming LEGO title:

"There were around 300 playable characters made for this game but altogether about 800 unique characters were made our character team did a truly amazing job. My favorite would have to be Yaddle- there is just something I love about her that I can't put my finger on or maybe the Wampa, who is just adorable! I think fans of the new trilogy will be pleased to hear that Babu Frik is making an appearance as a playable character and he is possibly one of the cutest things I have ever seen."

McDiarmid went on to confirm that "there are 23 planets/moons with 28 unique locations that the player can visit" while describing what players can expect upon their visits to familiar lands:

"There are 23 planets/moons with 28 unique locations that the player can visit, each full of quests, challenges, items, and characters to find. If you have a favourite Star Wars location it's pretty likely you can visit it in-game. Each of these planets also features a local space where you can take advantage of the many ships you can unlock to get in dogfights and defeat capital ships which, when boarded, reveal even more areas to explore."

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to release some time in early 2021.

THE BIGGEST LEGO GAME EVER

This is very exciting for both Star Wars and LEGO game fans everywhere. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is shaping up to be the biggest LEGO game ever. With more than 300 playable characters, it already has beaten LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 for the previous peak for character count in the series, and it does not seem to be stopping there in terms of pushing the envelope.

Some of the best parts of Traveler's Tales LEGO games have been the deep cuts they include on the character roster. Whether it has been Polka-Dot Man in LEGO DC Supervillains or a Gonk Droid in the original LEGO Star Wars , the team at TT has shown they really care about the properties they work with. If there's a character in the Star Wars canon you have wanted to control, The Skywalker Saga is probably going to be your chance to do so.

Mix that monster character count with the sheer number of locations gamers will be able to explore, and this latest LEGO title is looking to be deeper and more expansive than any before.
