GTA 5: Online received a huge expansion last month, “ The Cayo Perico Heist Update ” , which brought a plethora of new content to the game. For the first time in its lifecycle, the map received a new addition, with the heist taking place on a separate high-security island.
While fans were evidently excited by the continued additions to Rockstar's ever successful online platform, many were disappointed by the lack of news surrounding the next addition within the GTA franchise.
Given that GTA 5 released back in 2013, and has now been part of three separate console generations, fans are eager to hear more surrounding the next game, and a recent Twitter post may have given some insight into what fans can expect from GTA 6.
NEWS
Tom Henderson, Owner & CEO of Viral Junkie, has revealed in a post on his Twitter page that GTA 6 is rumored to feature "a playable female and male protagonist” . It's unclear whether the game will allow players to switch between these playable characters, similar to GTA 5, or whether each character will contain completely different story arcs.

Rockstar holds a complete 'no comment' policy on all rumors and leaks surrounding their titles, and is yet to confirm or deny this information.
WHAT THIS MEANS
While it might not be a complete confirmation regarding any news surrounding GTA 6, it's great to see that fans now have something to become excited around. The 8-year gap between GTA 5 and the next installment is the longest we have had to wait for a new game in the franchise, and given the capabilities of the newly released Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, Rockstar surely must be planning something big for their new release.
It will be interesting to see how the developer handles the use of multiple characters within the next installment of the franchise, given that customizability has been the go-to for a majority of recent games. Rockstar could choose to follow the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 with their completely customizable characters, but linear story style, or stick by the method they are familiar with, with multiple different characters with separate story arcs all existing within the same environment.
It's fair to say that Rockstar has had plenty of time imagining and designing this game, so fans will be hoping that the final product will go some way to meeting the high expectations they have set.
