In late November, Rockstar treated us to a teaser trailer for an update coming to Grand Theft Auto: Online this December . Whilst the original teaser did not provide much information on what the update would bring, a new heist was confirmed to be coming to the game, titled ' The Cayo Perico Heist. ' An iconic name within the game, John Doe, was also mentioned within the teaser trailer, potentially hinting towards Fort Zancudo having an involvement within the new heist.
Rockstar also revealed a trailer for the heist last month , confirming multiple new features including weapons, vehicles, and radio stations, and the developer has now given fans more insight into what the update will bring to Grand Theft Auto V: Online.

WHAT THIS MEANS
The addition of new music to the game is bound to be accepted with open arms by the community. The playlist of songs within the Grand Theft Auto franchise has become iconic to the fan-base, and utilizing the use of real-life DJs will surely enhance the experience for players. Whilst the addition of heists to the game may have not been as exciting as players first imagined when they were announced back in 2015, it's great to see Rockstar still attempting to bring new additions to this feature.
The reception to the release of this new update to Grand Theft Auto V: Online has been a mixed one. Whilst many players are excited to receive new content to one of the most popular games of all time, many fans are disappointed that nothing has been said surrounding the next release for the franchise. Releasing in 2013, originally for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Grand Theft Auto 5 has now outlived an entire console generation, something fans have been left disappointed by.
Only time will tell whether Rockstar has been secretly working on the next step for the franchise alongside their other projects, but considering the recent release of Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as the PlayStation 5, it would make sense that the developer would want to create a Grand Theft Auto game designed to push these consoles to the max. That being said, Rockstar has already confirmed that a next-generation version of Grand Theft Auto V will be coming 'in the second half of 2021' , so fans may have to wait a little longer to see where the franchise takes us next.
