The current pandemic may have put a damper on various movie and television production schedules around the globe, but that hasn't stopped studios from completing pre-production work on various projects. One of Disney+'s upcoming Star Wars series, the still-untitled Cassian Andor focused series, that is meant to serve as a prequel to Rogue One was recently cited as being delayed by possibly over a year. Despite that, the series has recently announced the casting of Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller.
NEWS
Today, THR has reported the addition of two more actresses to Cassian's eventual solo Disney+ series, one of whom may be familiar to Star Wars fans. Genevieve O’Reilly, who played the role of Mon Mothma in Ep. III Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been announced to board the project. Another new addition comes in the form of actress Denise Gough, although detals on her character are currently unknown.
Update: The offical Star Wars website has corroborated THR's report of O'Reilly's casting.
WHAT THIS MEANS
O'Reilly's addition to the show's cast is sure to excite die-hard Star Wars fans. It does make a great deal of sense that Mon Mothma would feature in the series, as the Rebel Alliance will likely be heavily focused upon. Furthermore, perhaps fans will get to learn more about the sturute and inner workings of the Rebel cell on Yavin IV, with Mothma involved. Maybe someone like Admiral Ackbar could even make an appearance? Expect to learn all this and more when the Cassian Andor series premieres on Disney+.
