The future of Star Wars video games is a bright one. After the EA Star Wars monopoly broke down over a year ago, the potential for digital adventures in the galaxy far, far away seems almost as vast as the Lucasian canon itself. However, that is not to say Electronic Arts will not be dipping their toes in the Star Wars waters; they just won't be the only ones. And one of the biggest names waiting in the wings at EA is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2

The first game introduced the world to a new Jedi in Cal Kestis as he evaded the gaze of the Empire's evil Inquisitors. Rumors of a follow-up have been swirling online for months now, with a potential 2023 release date seemingly in the cards. As for when fans get their first taste of the game, it is supposedly going to be revealed sometime early this summer.

Even though EA and developer Respawn have remained fairly tight-lipped on the sequel, the gaming giant may have just hinted at when Fallen Order 2 will see the light of day.

New evidence from Electronic Arts' quarterly earnings call points toward an official release date for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 sometime between January and March 2023.

In a slide showcasing the publisher's Fiscal Year 2023 slate, they list a "Major IP" in Q4 (which begins on January 1, 2023, and ends on April 1, 2023) alongside a "Partner Title," "Remake," and "Sports Title." All of these are unnamed, meaning they have yet to be publicly discussed by the company.

More Star Wars Sooner Than Expected

When talk of a Fallen Order 2 release coming next year started to permeate online, many believed this would be EA's paramount title for Fall 2023. However, if this untitled major IP is in fact Star Wars, it would mean fans will be reunited with Cal Kestis much sooner than expected.

The key thing here is IF that unnamed game is in fact Jedi: Fallen Order. EA does not have many major IPs in their stable at the moment that have not had a recent release or are not already listed on this particular slide. Unless EA is hiding something major, this feels like it has to be Star Wars.

Now, Fallen Order is not the only Star Wars game in development at EA, so this very well could be one of those, but Fallen Order 2 looks as though it is next up, with the others following after.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 has yet to be officially announced, but a first glimpse could come as soon as Star Wars Celebration in a few weeks.
