2021 was a big year for Captain America and the legacy of his shield. With Steve Rogers gone, the mantle he held became mishandled. Sam Wilson originally felt that it wasn't his place to take it up, so the iconography and responsibilities of the title instead went to former military-man John Walker; needless to say, it didn't go well. At the end of the day, Wilson made his amends and became the new Cap of the MCU.
One of the details that make Anthony Mackie's Captain America different from Chris Evans' is how he incorporated his wingsuit into his new look. While Rogers was stuck on the ground, Wilson can take to the skies whenever he feels the need—though, he doesn't have that handy Super Soldier Serum running through his veins.
To commemorate the brand-new Captain America, Marvel revealed a beautiful new controller that many fans are going to want to get their hands on immediately.
A New Captain America Controller for Xbox
On Twitter, Marvel revealed a new officially licensed Xbox controller and quick charging station by Razer, inspired by Sam Wilson's Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The front features a design that distinctly resembles Sam Wilson's new superhero outfit, and the controller's image of the iconic shield is well placed, almost looking like the controller is holding it when being charged.
The detailing continues around the sides of the controller.
It seems that the back is matte black in finish. However, there is a small logo above the charging port on the controller to keep the theme alive.
Pricing and availability aren't known yet, but Razer has a link on its site to sign up to be notified when new information is released.
More Marvel Controllers on the Way?
The controller looks like a must-have for Marvel fans who love to game. The design work is stellar, and it makes one want more designs based on other MCU characters. Maybe one could be made for every project as they come along; Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk—they would all look fantastic.
PlayStation fans are probably a little salty that they don't have their own special Marvel DuelSense controllers. Who knows, maybe Sony will surprise everyone. After all, it would only be fair if every different console got at least one unique design for their player base.
The real question is: how available will this Captain America controller be? Will it be another color design gamers can easily pick up at a store? Only time will tell. Hopefully, in the end, it won't be too difficult to track down.
