With The PlayStation Awards 2020 Japan Asia taking place recently, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, eFootball PES 2020, and Final Fantasy VII Remake made the headlines for taking home the Grand Award. Persona 5, however, continued to shine during the yearly event, receiving the Partner award, alongside other notable titles such as Resident Evil 3 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
This is now the fifth year running that Persona 5 has received a PlayStation award, highlighting the success of the game, as well as proving that fans are still interested in the 2016 release from developer Atlus. Supporters of the franchise are now looking toward what may come next, and a member of the Persona Team hasn't held back in keeping fans in the loop.
NEWS
During an interview at The PlayStation Awards 2020 Japan Asia , after accepting the Partner Award, Persona Team producer and director Kazuhisa Wada discussed his happiness on accepting the award, as well as giving an insight into the future plans for Persona:
“As next year is the 25th anniversary of the Persona series, we have many exciting plans which we hope you will all enjoy.”
This is not the first time a 25th anniversary celebration has been teased by Wada, confirming back in December 2019 that the team was “carefully planning steps to celebrate the anniversary of Persona.”

WHAT THIS MEANS
The Persona team will be keen to celebrate in some sort of fashion for the anniversary of their franchise. With Persona concerts unable to take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Atlus will want to reward fans with a celebration they deserve, to pay back the loyalty they have shown over the last 25 years.
The developer also has a history of adjusting a game as well, with the release of Persona 5 Royal in March of this year, which included new characters, music and plot points throughout the game. That was not the only release 2020 release for the franchise however, with Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers releasing earlier this year, which involved a cross over between Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors and Atlus' Persona.
It can be safely assumed that Persona 6 will release at some point in the future, given the success of the franchise across the world, however we have yet to receive an official release date. Could these exciting plans result in Atlus announcing the game at some point in 2021?
