Pirates of the Caribbean Sea of Thieves Expansion

Despite a bit of a lackluster launch, Sea of Thieves has garnered quite the devoted community. The Rare-developed multiplayer pirate adventure has seen more than 15 million players set sail since day one and, plenty of content additions have come since then.

And now more than three years since hitting store shelves, the latest content addition has been teased.

Announced as a part of Xbox's E3 showcase, a Pirates of the Carribean-themed expansion is coming to Sea of Thieves.

The Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life expansion launches for free on June 22.

This looks to be a match made in heaven. There is no more perfect franchise for Sea of Thieves crossover than Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean.

It's exciting enough to see Johnny Depp's iconic Captain Jack Sparrow hit the game, but the other stuff surrounding him seems even more enticing. In this trailer alone, hints are laid out for epic Pirate battles, hunts for all-new artifacts, and even appearances from Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman.

Obviously, Sea of Thieves has seen enough of a financial return for Microsoft to get into the world of mega-massive IP crossovers, and hopefully, this is the start of even more content on the way for Rare's sea-faring title.

Gamers will be able to get their hands on this latest expansion for free on June 22.
