Among Us: PlayStation & Xbox Releases Closer Than Ever Before With New Announcement

Among Us , originally released in 2018, proved to be a sleeper hit as it only gained immense popularity this year. With the game becoming a massive hit on streaming services, Among Us has dominated the video game landscape in recent months.

Even United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez streamed the game on Twitch, which accounted for one of the most-viewed streams in the platform’s history .

At the Game Awards last week, Among Us won two awards: “Best Multiplayer Game” and “Best Mobile Game.” Since then, the game shows no sign of slowing down, as some pretty big news about the game was just revealed.

At Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase today, Nintendo announced that Among Us is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game is now available on the Nintendo eShop.

The game is $5 and it supports cross-platform play with other platforms, according to Gamespot .

...NEXT ON PLAYSTATION AND XBOX?

This announcement indicates a big leap for Among Us . Expanding platforms for the game has been a requested addition since the game garnered its popularity, and it seems likely that Among Us may head to PlayStation and Xbox soon. There are potentially millions of untapped users on those consoles, and releasing a version on those platforms will undoubtedly boost the playerbase of the already popular game.

If the game makes it way to those platforms, it would signify the growing trend of cross-platform games releasing on PlayStation and Xbox. Ever since games like Fortnite kicked open the possibility of cross-platform play between both consoles, an expectation was created that multiplayer games should support play between players on different consoles. If this becomes a reality for Among Us , the game will have followed industry trends.

It’s likely that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S would also receive a version of Among Us if the game releases for those ecosystems.
