Ubisoft recently jumped into the next generation with guns blazing with the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla , quickly becoming the biggest Assassin's Creed launch ever, as well as Ubisoft's bigger PC launch ever. However, this momentum was short lived as multiple Ubisoft games were forced to be delayed, including the upcoming Far Cry 6 .

Originally slated for release in February 2021, Far Cry 6 was then delayed with no definitive release date given. Ubisoft later stated the game would release at some point in the 2021-2022 fiscal year . In addition to Far Cry 6 , Rainbow Six Quarantine was also delayed too.

Found by Wario64 , the release date for Far Cry 6 has seemingly been revealed by Microsoft on the games listing on Xbox.com . According to the website, the sixth main installment is set to launch on May 21, 2021. As of yet, this date hasn't been confirmed by Ubisoft, but it does fit with the release window given by them. Considering that the game was only four months from release when initially delayed, a 3-month set back seems very much plausible.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Many retailers will often post placeholder release dates like December 31 or January 1 for unconfirmed titles. However, this date is a specific middle-of-the-month Friday. What also adds weight to this release date being legitmate is the fact that Microsoft themselves listed it. In 2020 we have seen many games near completion get delayed by a matter of weeks or months, rather than an extended delay.

It's no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically affected development of games, along with films and TV shows. As many studios continue to try to adapt to remote development, we'll likely see more release shifts across the entertainment industry.

Ubisoft's Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time remake has seemingly escaped delay and is currently scheduled for January 21, 2021, which will bridge the gap while fans wait for Far Cry 6 later in the year.
