The new Disney+ era set to begin for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has picked up a ton of steam over the last few weeks. In October alone, casting announcements have been made for Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk, newcomer Iman Vellani as Ms Marvel, and most notably, Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight.
These series may be later on in the MCU’s release schedule, but the studio is already making plenty of headway filling in positions in front of the camera and behind it. That continues with a new report revealing who will help bring Moon Knight to the small screen as well...

Deadline has reported that Marvel Studios has tapped Mohamed Diab to direct the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight. There has been no official confirmation of this hire by either Marvel or Diab’s representatives, nor is there word on how many episodes the Egyptian director is set to take on.
WHAT THIS MEANS
Mohamed Diab has mostly made his name writing and directing in Egypt, his native country, but his work has been recognized worldwide. Most recently, Diab wrote, directed, and produced Eshtebak (Clash), a 2016 film that scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and was officially selected at that year's Cannes Film Festival. This will be his first major production in both Hollywood and in the USA, and it just so happens to come with one of the biggest franchises in cinematic history.
Diab's background also lends itself wonderfully to the very Marvel project that he is heading up thanks to Moon Knight's noted background with Egyptian history. Alongside leading actor Oscar Isaac, Diab should have an absolutely golden opportunity to explore every angle of Marc Spector and his superhero persona, especially as he dives deep into both Spector's own psyche and the lore of ancient Egypt.
Moon Knight is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022, and there is no set timeframe for production to begin as of yet.
