It's a tradition at this point for a slew of concept art to be released by Marvel Studios artists after the release of every film, and this has continued with the shows.
After WandaVision concluded, fans got to see a preview of the then-upcoming artbook for the show, along with glimpses of more concept art in the Marvel Studios’ Assembled episode for the series.
Fans even got to see the concept art of the finale and the battle between Vision and White Vision, which even suggested that the fight between Agatha and Wanda could have ended up far more chaotic. The release of concept art hasn't stopped though, as another piece has been released showing more of what would have been the final battle with Wanda wearing her Scarlet Witch costume far earlier than in the series.
THE SCARLET WITCH AND VISION FIGHTING SIDE-BY-SIDE
Anthony Francisco, a Senior Visual Development Artist at Marvel Studios, posted a keyframe painting for the final episode of WandaVision that depicts Vision and Wanda preparing to face off against White Vision.
Agatha Harkness can also be seen in the background in silhouette form as she summons vines from the ground while everything burns around them.
The painting likely depicts when the final battle began after Vision saves his wife from White Vision and Agatha flies into the scene to confront Wanda.
STARK DIFFERENCE IN ATTIRE
By far the biggest difference between this keyframe painting and the finale is that White Vision had already disappeared by the time Wanda had donned her new Scarlet Witch costume. In the show, Wanda is wearing a simple red hoodie and only gains her proper costume just as the battle ends.
Interestingly, there is an abundance of vines present in the painting, which Agatha conjured. It certainly matches her basement aesthetic, which was covered almost entirely with them and other foliage at one point before it was toned down significantly.
It could have been that at one point, Agatha was going to use vines in her fight with Wanda, but that concept was inevitably abandoned at some point during development. Additionally, it suggests that initially, the idea was to have Wanda and Vision fight alongside each other, rather than both of them battling their respective enemies on the opposite sides of Westview.
Remember that keyframe paintings aren't meant to represent exactly what is meant to happen in a scene, only acting as guidance for directors and other departments when filming the scenes.
So, it isn't certain that Wanda would have worn her superhero costume earlier than in the final product, but fans will certainly see her wearing it more in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters on March 25, 2022.
