Tom Hardy Is Campaigning For Tom Holland's Spider-Man to Crossover With Venom

It was a sad day when fans realized Sony was going ahead with a Venom film which was set to introduce the infamous symbiote into his own solo movie, one without Spider-Man. How could that character run around without any connection to Spidey? Well, Sony found a way.

The first film following Eddie Brock was met with a lukewarm reception but did well enough to warrant a sequel. This time around, a more infamous symbiote iss set to debut in the form of Cletus Kasady's Carnage.

The recent trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has shown fans some awesome looks at what can be expected when the film hits theaters, and needless to say, it looks insane.

As exciting as it is to finally have a Venom and Carnage confrontation in live-action on the big screen, there's still one key thing missing: Spider-Man. So, will fans ever see Hardy's interpretation of Eddie Brock and his symbiotic friend come face-to-face with someone like Tom Holland's Spider-Man?

According to lead actor Tom Hardy, it's something he's campaigning for:

VENOM MEETS SPIDER-MAN?

In an interview with Esquire, Tom Hardy was asked if he would be keen on Venom and Spider-Man one day gracing the same screen together. Hardy replied confidently, "I wouldn't be doing the job if I wasn't... excited by that:"

“I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity... I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that."

Hardy clarified that as exciting as it would be, "that's a large canyon to leap:"

"Obviously, that’s a large canyon to leap, to be bridged by one person alone, and it would take a much higher level of diplomacy and intelligence, sitting down and talking, to take on an arena such as that.“Should both sides be willing, and it be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be."

Even with the insane amount of logistics that would have to be involved, Hardy then said that he "would do anything to make that happen:"

"I hope and strongly, with both hands, push, eagerly, towards that potential, and would do anything to make that happen, within what’s right in business. But it would be foolish not to head towards the Olympic Games if you were running 100 metres, so yeah! I want to play on that field.”

THE HARDY CAMPAIGN FOR TOM HOLLAND

It's not a secret that many fans out there have issues with Sony's handling of its Spider-Man-villain-verse. In fact, many haven't taken kindly to the new Venom series at all.

Even with all the disdain out there, it's hard to deny how exciting it would be to see Holland's Peter Parker come face-to-face with Venom, who has already been introduced to the world.

Imagine if the two of them needed to team up to fight Carnage. Whether Sony realizes it or not, it would have a massive hit on its hands if it could find a way to have all three of those characters on screen at the same time, duking it out for supremacy.

Now, with the MCU introducing the multiverse, anything could happen. It's still hard not to hope that one day, the MCU could possibly introduce its own more comic-accurate take on the symbiotes. But in the meantime, fans will have to settle for Tom Hardy's Venom if they want any symbiote vs. Spidey action at all.

If all goes smoothly, Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released on September 24, 2021—fingers crossed that pesky Delta variant doesn't get in the way
