Warning - This article contains spoilers for the season finale of Loki.

Kang has been rumored to appear in Loki since last year before Jonathan Majors was cast in the role of Kang the Conqueror for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. As soon as the first episode, fans immediately jumped to the conclusion of Kang being behind the TVA all along.

As the series progressed, it became all the more obvious that the time-traveling villain was behind it. The finale revealed this to be the truth with Loki and Sylvie encountering another Variant of Kang played by Jonathan Majors. Unfortunately, Sylvie made the wrong choice in killing him and allowed the timeline to branch out of control.

The ending of season 1 of Loki showed the titular character appearing in a foreign TVA ruled not by the Time-Keepers, not by He Who Remains, but Kang the Conqueror. This is something that has been reaffirmed in a new interview with the show's production designer.

EVERYTHING'S COMING UP KANG

In an interview with Marvel, production designer Kasra Farahani explained the final shot of Loki and where the reformed God of Mischief ended up.

Marvel itself also confirmed in the interview that the statue Loki saw in the show's final shot was indeed the Variant Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains warned both Lokis about—Kang the Conqueror.

Farahani said that the design of Kang's statue was decided on day one by the in-house VisDev team at Marvel Studios. The statues of the Time-Keepers actually came later.

The establishment shot of this new statue of Kang was, as Farahani explained, “to delay the audience and Loki’s understanding that they were in a different place, that they were in a different timeline.”

This confirms that the reason Owen Wilson's Mobius and Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15 did not recognize Loki was due to him arriving in a completely new timeline and encountering Variants of Mobius and Hunter B-15.

LOKI FINDING HIS WAY BACK

It was confirmed after the credits that a second season of the show will be coming, which will likely deal with the fallout of Sylvie's decision to kill He Who Remains and unleashing Kang upon the multiverse.

Sadly, it could also mean that Loki will have to begin his friendship with Mobius anew if he can't go back to his original timeline or if that timeline doesn't exist at all now.

So, fans will have to find out what will become of this Variant of Loki either in his second season or as soon as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25, 2022.
