As the Marvel Cinematic Universe opens the door on Phase 4 with WandaVision on Disney+, Marvel Studios is hard at work behind the scenes bringing future projects to life. Nearly a half-dozen movies and Disney+ shows currently have cameras rolling as they prep for release later in 2021 and into the early stages of 2022.

This includes the first fourth solo movie for any MCU hero as Thor: Love and Thunder looks to kick off production within the next few days. This movie will be 2022's summer blockbuster, boastsing one of the most expansive casts of characters of any Phase 4 movie outside the untitled Spider-Man 3.

The God of Thunder will have a superstar crew surrounding him, including Jane Foster, Valkyrie, Korg, and likely the entire Guardians of the Galaxy roster. Following other casting reports from late 2020, a social media blast is confirming yet another star for this adventure.

JAIMIE ALEXANDER TAKES TO THE AUSTRALIAN SKIES

In a new post on her Instagram, MCU veteran Jaimie Alexander posted a selfie on an airplane with the caption "Off to the land down under ✈️ #sydney ⚔️." This almost certainly confirms that she is traveling to Australia to reprise her role as Lady Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder, which begins production soon.

THOR 4: RETURN OF LADY SIF

After Deadline reported that Alexander would make a return to the MCU in the fourth Thor solo film, Alexander rang in the new year with a couple of pictures teasing this comeback. This new post nearly sets her Lady Sif role reprisal into stone with Thor: Love and Thunder set to commence production in star Chris Hemsworth's homeland.

Alexander played Lady Sif in both 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World. She also took this portrayal to the former Marvel TV world with appearances in two episodes of Agents of SHIELD in 2014 and 2015.

Even though this movie still centers on Chris Hemsworth's revitalized lightning expert, Alexander will appear alongside a handful of the MCU's most notable female forces. Jane Foster will find herself worthy of wielding Mjölnir as she becomes the Mighty Thor, and the ranks will be filled by Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, Pom Klementieff's Mantis, and Karen Gillan's Nebula as well.

It's still a mystery how Sif will return to action in Thor: Love and Thunder, but it should be a refreshing sight after her notable absence in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok and both Avengers movies that followed. Considering that Thor and his crew are set to face one of Marvel's most terrifying big bads in Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher, the Asgardian warrior will have to bring her best alongside the all-star team of galactic and Earth-based MCU stars.

Production will begin on Thor: Love and Thunder within the next few days. The movie will release in theaters on May 6, 2022.
